The Michael Smith Legacy of Excellence Scholarships for Further Education
Michael Smith believed strongly in higher education having earned his Bachelor degree from Georgia Tech and his Master’s degree from Duke University. The Michael-Anthony Foundation’s Michael Smith Legacy of Excellence Scholarships for Further Education is designed to provide financial assistance to selected individuals for use in their pursuit of further education: college or University, trade school or credited avenues of improving learned proficiencies and skill sets. Although there will be limited demographic criteria for these scholarships, MAF will seek opportunities and have special consideration to support young black men and LGBT youth.
The first ever Michael Smith Legacy of Excellence Scholarship was given to Kyle Fox October 2018 through the Gentlemen’s Foundation/Gentlemen’s Ball programming in the amount of $2500. An additional $2500 scholarship is scheduled to be coordinated 2020. Recognizing the power of education to uplift and empower community, MAF seeks to support academic excellence while bridging the gap of financial hardships to that goal. We understand the importance of education as Michael Smith did in his living and want to support others striving for educational excellence in Michael’ name.
Scholarship Program
Given the current challenges related to COVID-19, the Michael Anthony Foundation has postponed the Michael Smith Legacy of Excellence Scholarship Application until September 2021.
